friday favourites.

Last weekend was a long weekend and I was lucky enough to go up to my cottage. There was plenty of snow, and lots of friends, which meant I had a great time. This weekend I am going to see the final tour of Swedish House Mafia and I am super excited about that. They are an amazing group and I’m sure their live show won’t disappoint! Here are some of my favourites from this week.

favourite decor: white with coloured pops

favourite fun hair colour: deep plum

favourite food: hot chocolate sundaes

favourite words:

mint.

I am really happy that mint has come back into style and appears as though it is here to stay through the Spring and into the Summer. Mint is everywhere – fashion, beauty, home decor and even food! I admire people who can pull off statement mint pieces, but for those of us who are a little worried about how the colour looks on, there are lots of ways to incorporate it into your life without having to wear it! Below are some awesome mint items and looks.

friday favourites.

Last weekend I was in NYC, this weekend the boyfriend and I are headed to Niagara Falls! Travel – it really does a person good. Though I haven’t been on a trip longer than a week in a very long time, these shorter little jaunts have really keep my spirits up over the past few years. Yesterday I started a part-time internship at a large fashion company downtown Toronto. Though I spent the majority of the day media searching and unloading samples upon samples of clothes, I felt a little like Lauren Conrad in her early Teen Vogue days. There is something to be said about working in an environment where everyone shares a common interest – fashion – and where I actually get to put my PR schooling into play.

Here are some of my favourites from this week!

favourite read: rules of civility.

favourite decor: accent wall.

favourite smile: puppy!

favourite words:

book worm.

Even with the growing popularity of ebooks, and ebook readers, I am still one of those people like prefers to buy a hardcopy of the majority of my books. Why? There is just something about holding a book in your hands, and being able to turn all the pages, that I still really love – and I love to display my books on my bookshelf when I’m finished reading them! Books are like art, and they can be displayed in a similar way. Like coffee table books, they really can breathe some life into a room and really act as a conversation starter. Below are some awesome ways to display your book collection!

under the canopy.

When I was little, I always envied those girls whose parents bought them glorious pink and flowery canopies for their bedrooms. They would hang above their beds, and create the coziest atmosphere. Now that I am an adult, and have some interior decorating taste, I still love the feel a canopy adds to a bedroom. A canopy can add a classy, cozy, feel to a bedroom – and can hide a messy bed if you didn’t have time to make it that morning! Below are a few ideas for a more grown up canopy in a bedroom.
